A signal system has been in place at the port for hurricane hazards since 1805

At the ports of Gujarat, 12 signals are waved according to the wind speed

Hurricane 'Tau-Te' will hit the coast of Gujarat tonight between 8 and 11 km between Porbandar and Mahuva at a speed of about 155 to 165 kmph. The hurricane is currently 250 km from Diu and 290 km from Veraval. The state government has claimed that it has made full preparations for this. Meanwhile, a red alert has been issued in the state. Different number of signals are kept on the coast. However most people do not know why this signal is and what works. Through this report, we are giving you some information about the 1 to 12 signals at the ports today.

Saurashtra currently has two signals

These signals are known as the Beaufort Scale, which was introduced during the British rule. It was first determined by a British naval officer, Francis Beaufort, in 1805 on the basis of wind speed. At present, 12 such signals have been sent to the coast and ports of Gujarat. Saurashtra currently has two signals, which could be amplified depending on the next situation.

A frightening signal number 10 was heard in Veraval

Hurricane 'Tau-Te', which originated in the Arabian Sea, is moving fast towards the coast of Gujarat, when Divya Bhaskar's team reached the port of Veraval, the effect of the storm was seen. Hurricanes are raging at the port and people are gasping for breath. There is a fear of strong winds blowing at Veraval port. A very alarming signal number 10 has been put up at Gir-Somnath-Veraval port. The hurricane is likely to cross the northern shore of Veraval port, thus experiencing very stormy winds at the port.

Signal number 17 was reached in 1946

Normally the signal is only up to number 12, but if the wind speed increases too much, the number may increase, as signal number 17 was reached due to the hurricane in 1946. After the Bengal hurricane in 1964, the British government also conducted a detailed study of the weather in India, with occasional hurricane speeds ranging from 150 to 250 per hour.

If the wind speed increases too much, the number may also increase.
